A club website in three hours, hosted for two dollars a month.

A monthly didgeridoo circle in Asheville needed a web presence: what it is, when it meets, how to show up. It did not need a subscription.

2–3 hours

Logo, brand, site, and deployment, in one sitting. Our estimate.

under $2/mo

Hosting, observed on the AWS bill at current traffic. Domain adds about $15 a year.

$200+/yr

Roughly what a site-builder subscription would cost instead, at $16 to $30 a month.

The problem

Clubs, events, and side projects all hit the same wall: you need a real web presence, and the standard answer is a site builder at $16 to $30 a month, forever, for a page that changes a few times a year. That's not a website cost. That's rent.

What we built

Root + Stalk: a logo, a small brand system, and a single-page site with an upcoming-events section fed by a calendar integration. Static hosting on AWS Amplify. Total build time, including designing the logo and brand from nothing: one sitting, two to three hours, all of it directed through Claude Code.

The Root + Stalk Drone Circle website: a concentric-circle logo over a Blue Ridge mountain photograph, with the tagline and an upcoming events link.
The live site. Click through and judge it against a $30-a-month template. Logo, brand, and page: one afternoon's work.

The part worth noticing

Same pattern as our HR study: AI as the tool, not the product. Claude Code compressed the whole craft stack, logo drafts, brand choices, copy, code, and deployment, into hours. The running site contains no AI at all. Nothing to subscribe to, nothing to meter, nothing that breaks at 2am.

The honest limits

This is the simple tier, and it should only be sold as such. It doesn't answer inquiries, book appointments, or chase follow-ups; that's our websites that book work build, and it costs more because it does more. Changes go through us: we deploy them at a flat per-change rate, usually the same day you ask. If your site needs to change every day, a site builder's subscription starts earning its keep. For a brochure with event dates, it never does.

The pattern you can borrow

If you run a club, an event series, a side project, or a business that just needs to be findable, this is now a thing we offer: around $500 depending on what you need, hosting passed through at cost, done in days not weeks. The honest version of the pitch is the arithmetic: site-builder rent plus getting the thing designed costs a lot more than this build ever will.

Need to exist on the internet, cheaply?

Tell us what the site has to do. If the answer is 'not much,' we'll say so, and build you the two-dollar-a-month version.
